I know its been done before, but does anybody know how much it costs to swap in a 2zz with a manual trany conversion (including all parts and service)? Sorry if this is posted somewhere already. I'm just curious.

for a straight forward swap. probably no more than 5k... with a trans conversion... well.. ii think you mite as well trade for a manual or a corolla xrs .. cause it can get very expensive and not worth it.

ok, cuz I can get a 2zz JDM engine with about 40k miles on for about $1500. I could keep it a auto but I really want a manual.

for that much its pretty cheap... ii heard the corolla 1zz manual trans can fit to the 2zz engine ... maybe a 1zz auto can .. maybe ur trans can? ... if not .. put a corolla 1zz trans on it .. but with all that .. your almost there to just turbo it or doing some good mods.

well there is way more performance parts for a 2zz so thats why I want to switch over.

haha, This will be next year. I get a $3000 signing bonus when I go to boot. So I will do that asap. My friend has the engine stored in his dads warehouse down in Tampa.

I know right? I cant wait. But honestly though. I plan on working on this car for about another year because I want to give it to my little brother for his 16th birthday. He just turned 15 today so just one more year till I have to decide.
But after all this money I'm dumping into it I think I might just give him a little gift card lol

well I wont give it to him. I would sell it to him at a discount. My family already said they will help him get a car so I figured by then I maybe ready for another project so I might get a tc or something. Its still up in the air though. I might sell it to him as is for about 8k or so. But if I get this engine I'm soooooo keeping it. lol

I'm kinda eye ballin the matrix. Do you think the Fr-s will be worth it? I can see alot of aftermarket support for it

every company is gonna be on top of that. I was gonna pursue to get that car but sadly ii have other priorities that ii have to accomplish.. so its either keep this car nd mod it for this summer .. or get another nd keep it mostly stock till its done paid for nd school being nearly done.

a 2zz swapped xd is nice, but I would prefer the 2.5L motor that the 2011 tc comes with.
180 hp and 173 tq with a non-lift motor pushing this 2600lbs box.. Why didn't toyota/scion add this motor or atleast the older model 2.4L to the rs 3.0 ? I would be happy even if my rs 3.0 is auto with this motor.

If I was on a wish trip, I would want the new 2.5L TC motor with Greddy turbo in an AWD Matrix 5 speed. They don't offer either (2.5L or manual) for the AWD Matrix. Well, you know what they say "Wish in one hand..."

I agree with you guys, a 2.5L would be sweat

true, but I'm not very engine tech savy. I know more about accessories and performance add-ons. I dont know much about swaping and engine sizes.
