We lost one of our keys. I'm looking to get a replacement but the dealer is charging 300. I called around the locksmiths and they want the same. I found the key online for $80. I figure I can have it cut with the chip somewhere but I need to know if I can program the keyless entry myself?

Does anyone know?

yes you can. my best friend is a locksmith. if you buy the uncut key. any locksmith can cut it to match your car. as far as the programming of the remote goes. a locksmith can do it. they just have to have the equipment to be able to do it.

it may take some calling around, but it can be done.

You can program the key yourself. It consist of turning the key on and off and flapping the door open and closed. You'll have to research it, but it is possible I've done it to mine.

Also do not get the key cut at Walmart! Get it done by a professional (locksmith). The metal is harder than the keys they sell at Walmart so they'll just end up boogering your $80 key. I learned that the hard way.

are you certain you can program the 2010 model? I know earlier cars you could but I read online that some new models you couldnt. I just dont want to waste the money. Dealer is charging 300 to replace and program. All the locksmiths I called wanted 300 as well.
