This is what i'm doing today, to me..my first big project. It took a lot of time to get the tails out, I didn't see the top nut which is in a very tight spot. There are two nuts to take off, both are 10mm. After that they came out easily, I removed one screw from the bottom reflectors and they came right out, and the side mirror cover pops right off and you remove 3 screws to take out the signals. This is how I started out, i'm going to paint now.

This is the final product, its not perfect, but i am very happy about the turn out. Theres a 40% chance i will redo the tail's tomorrow. But I may keep them, everything is back on the car, I will take some pics tom.

FYI, if your going to use this VHT outside then bring the lights indoors after about 10-15min. I painted my lights and stood watched them for about 30min to make sure everything still looked good, and they were awesome looking. So I went in the garage and came out about 30min later and there was gnats all over them!!! Apparently they are attracted to the sh*t, lol. But I did end up putting everything back on the car and after all the mishaps it came out pretty well, not 100% but I would have to say im very satisfied, and it is possible to make them look 100% with the VHT.

I think it looks SWEET! PLEASE let me know what yall think. BTW the tail's look very dark but the run/brake/reverse lights still show through VERY well when lit (if you request I will post a pic with the lights on). As for the mirror signals...haha.....they are pitch black, be careful how many layers there, cause 0 light shows through on my mirrors, which is what I wanted. Anyways let me know how yall like it, and request more pics if you want!!

@kyle..great job man! i like em!! :D i told ya if you took your time they would come out great, and it looks like you took my advice to take everything off the car. im sure it made things a lot easier. and btw..i should told ya to do them in a garage or something to keep them clean. the first time i did mine, i did them outside. i accidentally dropped one and got grass and dirt all over them. thats when i found out a lil paint thinner will remove it pretty easily, and then i had to redo them but in my buddy's garage. and my blinkers barely flash through my mirrors too. i redid them also, cause i still wanted to see a lil of the blinker so i only did a couple of coats. anyways bro, they look awesome. good job and keep up the good work.

@manley.. thats pretty sweet too. i didnt know they made colored nightshades. its subtle but nice also. good job there too.

@manley- i did see the red when i got mine, that looks nice with your paint color.

@sweet- yeah man i love em, they could be a little better but its only very very minor damage. You can only see little flaws if your right up on em. But it looks so sick.

@resolve- thanks man!!!!

How you took out the side turn signals? I have been wanting to do that.

Macko....if you are referring to the side signals on the mirrors, its easy. the back of the mirror just pops off with a little tug. then there are a couple screws holding the blinker in. comes out in 3 seconds

Yes, as sweet said...the cover on the mirror pops off with a little force, then 3 screws hold the turn signal on, 1 on top and 2 on the bottom. Real easy.

Has anyone used the Nightshades and put a clear coat on? Just wondering if it is worth it or adds protection?

i did clear coat on a couple other cars, makes it a bit shinier.

i just stripped all the nightshade off my car. lights are now stock-ish looking again.

Ok, so just a basic clear coat for plastic? And did it make the tint hold up longer or what? Or did it just make it shiny, lol?

Nice work there, my sister's ex bf did something like that with his old camry and his tail lights have since cracked and wore down. Always been paranoid with tinting from the outside. I would personally try to tint the inside or something so it lasts longer. Lol probably wouldn't look as clean though..

I did 3 layers I believe. But it does lighten up after it cures completley, which i believe took around 1 month really. They havent lightened up anymore since. I havent posted pictures of them now, those pictures were the day after. I will do another coat soon.

ive had my taillights done for about a year now. used 3 or 4 coats on mine. i didnt go real dark cause i didnt want to get hassled by the fuzz out here. in the sunlight you can still see a slight tint of red through the black.

UPDATE!!

well its been about 18 months since ive had my car and had the taillights tinted with Nightshades. as of now almost all of the tint has come off. its just gradually faded over time and now is almost non existant. i guess its been due to car washings and rain and what not. but apparently it is not permanent by any means.

just an FYI if you have used nightshades. i would look to redo it every year or so if you want to keep them tinted like they were the first time.
