I'm sharing my Scion xD 2010 with someone right now, and when they put gas in it, they usually only put in about $10 or $15 worth, which is a little less than or about half a tank.

They notice when they do this, the bar indicating how much gas is in the car goes up to where it should, but the "# of miles left to drive before you run out of gas" indicator (for lack of knowing what the real term is :) does not go up. Instead, it just keeps going down as you drive. Not sure what happens when it gets to zero yet. It was at about 2 miles when I just turned my car off. :)

I'm not worried that the car is going to stop working when it gets to 0, because I know there's gas in it, but I was wondering if there might be a way to reset it or have it re-scan the gas tank somehow.

Thoughts?

Try reseting the trip odometer when you put gas in. also one of the other screens I think it is the avg. MPG one you can hold the trip reset button for a second and then let go. it may change screens but it reset the MPG and believe it also rests the mile to empty.

I beleive what I did to mine last time I did that. it did same thing. I only put like $10 in and the miles stayed and then got to 0 and stayed there. but after reseting the trip and turn car off and on it change IIRC. it's been a while so can't remember my exact steps.
