ive had my dc sports axle-back for awhile now. good tone and such. i removed my resonator and it turned into an entirely different animal. sounds like a honda at lower rpm but much better when up high. im on stock headers so that will impact it as well.

do like i did and go the easy route. cut off your muffler completely and just run straight pipe out the back to a tip. that way you will still have the stock resonator without any muffling. IMO sounds amazing. a good deep tone. very aggressive on take off and acceleration. evens out on the highway. i get a lot of compliments on it! even sounded better this way than when i was test fitting actual aftermarket mufflers and saved me like 150-200 bucks!!

^that only works if your state has no emissions. unfortunately im not so lucky lol.

that doesnt matter. i checked before i went through with it. your muffler has nothing to do with emissions. all it does is make your car quieter. as long as you dont get rid of the calytic converter then you should be good. that is what handles the emissions part of the exhaust

I have a trd axle back. I love it. It gots the lower tone rumble like the wrx. Im going with a different route on my D so im already going to part out my exhaust system soon (along with long tube headers and catless midpipe). my trd exhaust has a bent on the muffler because im low myself but its not cracked and working perfectly. I can let it go for 120+ shipping.

x2 with 1sweetxd. Took muffler off. That was first thing I did.

Also technically he is right the Muffler isn't part of the emission control. As long as the sound decibles coming out are within the law they technically can't get you for it. But they can hassle you about it.

when they did do emissions here they checked for catalytic converter and then stuck a sensor in the tail pipe as long as you had the cat and the sensor passed you were good. if the sensor picked up something they they would run it on a dyno type machine and check emissions. if in range then you are good if outside you fail. But we havent had emissions here since mid 90s

im pretty sure somewhere in VA law it says something about it being unlawful to remove the muffler. i know the cat usually does all the work there. my suspension is illegal enough lol.

different route ehhhhh? the only thing i can make sense of is if ur parting out ur exhaust then ur getting something bigger in place of it hmmmmmm what could it be.....

I also might try the muffler elimination route just to see how it is.
