I had the OEM Dunlops taken off at about 300 miles due to the harsh stiff ride, vibrations at freeway speeds, and being scary on wet roads. I originally had Kumho Ecowing 215/55/16's in mind, but they were a special order item. The sales guy at the tire shop offered to make a deal on any Dunlop / Goodyear product he had in stock. The best fit for my needs were the Comforted Touring's. He made an offer I couldn't refuse, and though I am not a fan of Goodyear products, I took the bait. My first impression while driving home was: they are more comfortable than the Dunlops, quieter, and gripped the dry road better. But once I got on the freeway the tires felt squirmy and they tramlined. I checked the tire pressure the next morning, it was set at 33 psi. I inflated them to 35 psi and went for a jaunt down the freeway, no improvement. I went up to 37 psi, no improvement either, same squirmy feeling and tramlining only now they are not as comfy around town. I now have over one thousand miles on them, and no improvements yet, as I went on a trip to Los Angeles and hated the freeway performance every mile of the way. Luckily we drive the XD in the city most of the time, but those occasional road trips we plan are not going to be as enjoyable, as planned. I did take them to the tire store to have them checked out for balancing issues or defects, but none were found by the techs.

I replaced the Goodyears a few days ago with some Yokohama YK580's from Discount Tire Company. Only a couple hundred miles on the Yokohamas at this point, but, no issues on the freeway at all. The XD is now more smooth and responsive than ever before. The drive around town is more spirited and controled, and the Scion feels like it rolls more freely when coasting down a hill. Excellent tire these YK580's. I will update when I get a couple thousand miles them. I put 205/55/16 size again, and run them at 36 psi.

I looked at the YK580's before I bought my Continental ExtremeContact DWS'. Very happy with the Conti's. Sidewalks are a little softer than the Kumhos I had before. Quiet, smooth, and suppose to have less rolling resistance for better fuel mileage. Good to hear that the Yokohama's ride good, they were my second choice. I'm running 225-45-17's.
