depends are you going safe or aggressive?

TheLittleDeviant
10-22-2009, 07:22 AM
Aggressive here, I am running Flik FTD's 17x8 +35 offset, Tires are Proxes 245/40R17, they sit perfect on the xD, right to the edge.

Ild take the 1500, get the wheels you want dont settle.. and just run some used craigslist tires. Wheel/tire combos make or break a truck

Edited by TheLittleDeviant: We dont drive trucks, no one mentioned 1500 for anything... and your probably not human... BANNED!

Been looking at a 225/40/18 combo myself.

^You are correct on the tire size for 18" wheels. I own and operate my own business(shameless plug) and i can tell you that the "safe recommended size" is 225/40/18. The 17" "recommended" size is 205/50/17 if you want to keep the correct rolling circumference to match the 195/60/16 factory tire size. I am personally going with a 225/45/17 due to the track width and overall circumference, it will match the 205/50/17 within specs. If you guys and gals ever have a question concerning anything with wheels and tires, let me know, i have been doing this for the better part of 10 years, with anything for 13" wheels all the way up to 32" Asanti's on an H2.

I found a nice set of Enkei's with new tires locally but the wheels are 5 x 114.3
Will these fit my xD ?

No they will not, They need to be 5 x 100 to fit the xD/tC.
5x114.3 is for an xB

Well, that stinks....I found a set of 4 brand new Enkeis in the hyper black finish with new tires mounted and balanced for $600, and he's close by. Oh well....I'll keep looking!

Running 18 x 8 with a 35 offset...Tire size is 225/40/18 but I wish I had a little stretch so I could run some Randode spacer shims and get it even more flush and go moar low...Right now i'm close, but I want closer...We already grinded down the inner fender lip...

Picked up a set of Motegi's with Cooper tires today. Got a great deal I think, $300 for the set! So how did I do???

I like! - those look somewhat similar to the Katana wheels I have on my xD, except you got 6-spoke and mine are 5.

Are those tires the same diameter as the stock tires? They look a little larger in diameter in that picture... would throw your speedo/odo off a bit if they are...

BowdilxD
01-24-2010, 09:14 PM
The overall diameter is only .2 inches more than the stock size. My new rims are 17" . The guy I got them from works for Cooper and they were only used for 2 months. They look like brand new! My son was so jealous when he saw them...LOL! He bought the rims at Summit Racing which is pretty close to me. The rims alone are $135 each, new.

Cylon_xD
01-24-2010, 10:39 PM
Haha, OK, optical illusion, then - I wouldn't be able to tell the tires were only .2" larger from the photo, lol!

BowdilxD
01-24-2010, 10:56 PM
Probably since they're just sitting there with no weight on them. I think when I get them mounted on the car it will look sit pretty close to where it is now. But it will look soooo much nicer :)

Here's a couple pics of my Katana wheels - very similar to yours only 5 spoke and the back part of the spokes are painted black... these were taken before I lowered the car, the fenders are now flush with the top of the tires:

Figure I'll go ahead and throw myself onto this forum with this post. Here's my 2 sets of wheels, the OZ's are currently tireless about to get stripped for green, red or orange paint (undecided)

OZ's are 16x7 +35 offset, stock 195/60/16 tires.

1/2 hour later he informs me that it looks SIK and he was taking my car to the mall. As soon as I can get my car back, I'll take pics and post them...LOL

whats up new to the forums..i hail from the land of stretch and poke..lips are the way to go vw world lol

had my xd now for over a year and i figured..im done with projects might as well lower the bitch lol

thinking of goin with the DF210's and throwing a rear sway on..

now my question is..im looking at a set of staggard 17x8's for the front and 17x9's for the rear..while running those springs..

issue ive come across is that the damn wheels i want only come in ET48 for the 17x8's

and for the 17x9's is ET42

would i be better off running 9's all around? with stretch on the tires for sure

what am i looking to do for rear fitment issues? im down to cut grind and roll if need be..

wheels in question..concave style 7 spoke..aka te37 knockoff's

Looking good Keelie!

Mike, I am running 17x8 +35 and they sit flush. If you run the 9's with the higher offset you should be good with only a little grinding like Tim did earlier in this thread.

alright guys got a new one for you guys. Im trying to run back on 16" but want my tires agressive! but dont want stretched tires and on df210s. 245/40-50/16? prolly going to run on coilovers or roll fenders in the summer. thanks

I'm running 245/40R17's and no I dont rub... but my wheel specs are 17x8 +35 offset, if you aim for a +40 offset on the 16's you should be fine

I have air ride on my xD right now so clearance is not an issue for me. I just wasn't sure what size tires to get or how the ride would be with 19's because it's already a lil' rough with the bags. I have 17's on there now but I wanna go bigger.

Increased roughness of ride, higher chance of curb rash, and their is also the risk of a blown tire or bent rim goes up as well... but you gotta pay to play.

Theres a guy around here running 20"s on his xD and he lives in a rougher part of the state, said the rides a lot rougher, but he hasnt had any problems yet as far as i know... just windshields falling off from 157dB stereo.

Wheel and Tire Size Calculator (http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp)

Id try that out to get an idea of what size tire / rim offset youre going to be wanting to run on 19s. those calculators are the best thing ever invented as far as a general guideline goes

those tires will work, and if im not mistaken the bolt pattern for the tC is the same as a xD, but do you happen to know the offset?

Yea you'll be fine with stock tc wheels and stock tc tire sizes. offset is slightly higher than the xd's stock, but hte rim is also a little wider so it all balances out. stock tc rims actually look pretty good on our cars

Looking to run some 235/50's I would like to stick with some 16's but the tire options are kinda slim unless I bump up to some 17's. I will probably have to limit my drop though because of tire size and go with something minor like some TRD springs.

Oo yea def. Can't run on df springs with those. I'm thinkn 215/50/16 to reduce that gap. Ii got some bbs nd not liking my current set up. 205/45 .. planin to go coilovers too
