View Full Version : ABS grinding noise ??

Has anyone noticed that their ABS brakes make a grinding noise when activated? I've had many cars with ABS brakes and I never noticed a noise when I use them. Yesterday we were driving in heavy snow on side streets and when I braked and started to slide, the ABS kicked in but made a chattering grinding noise. Sounded weird to me but I've never owned a Toyota product so didn't know if this is normal. They work fine but just thought I'd check with you "experts"

sounds about right to me. the chatter is the valves adjusting pressure

Yea all toyotas do it I have a camry as well and it does the same thing

yeah, I really hate that sound, it sounds like the front wheels are going to fall off! It's a horrible grinding/scraping sound...

Yea it scared me the first time I heard it I thought I was going to have to go back to the dealership
