First, thanks for the desktop wallpaper! Second, I like Seibon, and I was looking at your pics. So is your hood dry carbon???!

Rally xD 03-14-2011 09:51 AM

Our hood isn't a dry carbon hood...just your standard one from them. We should've asked for one! We just put the xD on the dyno at the Greddy facility and we produced 119 horsepower to the wheels with only the TRD filter, bolt on headers and cat back exhaust. Not bad. We're going to be developing the engine i think.

simmons0613 03-14-2011 10:25 AM

You know that they make CF fenders as well, I'm not sure if that will help much though.

This is just one site I found them on.

Whack-A-Mole 03-14-2011 12:42 PM

I am eager to watch what you guys do. Keep us posted.

Rally xD 03-15-2011 09:45 AM

Thanks on the CBF fenders. We are not going to use them...at least not yet. Our fenders (only set) have some body work done to them and they want to keep the aggressive look for now. The car is now getting some engine development. We'll be releases pics this week.

simmons0613 03-15-2011 10:14 AM

you guys are making me want to put some big ass light like that on my car.

Whack-A-Mole 03-22-2011 04:50 AM

RallyXD are you guys thinking about going forced induction? It would be pretty cool! The XD is starving for aftermarket support. Bemani makes a rotrex kit, but it's only available overseas for the Yaris TS (same chasis and 2zr-fe).

Rally xD 03-22-2011 09:09 AM

.....just got a memo. The race car hasn't left Greddy's R&D dept since it was there for the dyno. I'll post up an image of some "piping." Let me know what you think.

Whack-A-Mole 03-22-2011 10:21 PM

Do you think after they're done there might be a version of it for us to purchase?

JDMJim 03-23-2011 09:57 AM

119 at the wheels. not bad.

xd_kidd 03-23-2011 12:31 PM

Its quick for what it is especially for 119hp. I run mines a few times and even surprise myself that I won. The lack of aftermarket support is still whack. Im hoping to finish paying my car off by the end of the year. Then debate to motor swap or get another car most likely back to my turbo volvos lol

Rally xD 03-23-2011 03:13 PM

There is talk by Greddy to make an aftermarket for purchase version. I can probably help that process if enough interest or inquiries are made.

Rally xD 03-23-2011 03:16 PM

Turbo xD Upgrade..coming

1 Attachment(s)
First shots of the new turbo upgrade on the Rally xD by Greddy performance. More develops to come. More images will be available online on the team site asap.

simmons0613 03-23-2011 05:13 PM

Is all that custom made or is that a kit they offer? Just curious.

xd_kidd 03-23-2011 05:33 PM

This is going to be interesting (eating popcorn)

simmons0613 03-23-2011 09:22 PM

^^^ pass some over here

Whack-A-Mole 03-24-2011 01:35 AM

Let us know what we can do! Also, there would be alot of interest at Scionlife's XD lounge. I'ld love one!

xd king 03-24-2011 05:26 AM

yeah i want one too

Rally xD 03-24-2011 09:18 AM

Right now due to the rush and lack of time, the kit is being made custom. There is talk in make a production version if enough interest comes from it. Right now word is that the turbo will be "de-tuned" heavily w/ restrictors to keep the power down and allow the turbo and piggy back ecu system to work w/o any problems with the bone stock engine/pistons/etc. On rally race stages, the xD needs just a little push to get out of the slower turns to get back up to speed. Also keeping the turbo restricted will help to keep the heat and stress low keep serviceability and reliability high. We'll see..will update again soon.

If "you" wanted a kit...how much horsepower would you ideally want?

Whack-A-Mole 03-24-2011 11:14 AM

I would like around 200hp though 250hp would be sweet! Or 8psi of their fastest spool!

xd king 03-24-2011 01:24 PM

i agree around 200 to the wheels would be nice and fast spooling

JDMJim 03-24-2011 03:10 PM

keyword is interest. there's all kind of interest. there is all kinds of "not wanting to spend the money"....like me.

Whack-A-Mole 03-25-2011 06:40 AM

What can we do to show interest?

Rally xD 03-26-2011 12:34 PM

Thats understandable. i know the team choose to go with a much smaller turbo. We'll see. The team asked Greddy for 35-50 horsepower and they said "thats it!" The first stage of adapting the turbo without any further engine development is the goal right now. The extra power is needed to help the xD get out of the turns better.

Whack-A-Mole 03-26-2011 04:51 PM

I'll enjoy following you guy's blog. Thanks for keeping an ear to the ground. So you guys are running about 4-6 psi?

xd_kidd 03-26-2011 05:29 PM

yea ii wld love to see what potentials a 2zr-fe gots but its understandable. Im also guessing too much boost power could cause a bit less traction on the course.

Rally xD 03-28-2011 11:09 AM

Potentially, Greddy is saying 100-150 but then we'll have to start building the engine...clutch....etc. We're taking it slow and steady. We hit the dyno later today or tomorrow so we'll get some more numbers soon.

After our kit is finished, we're going to see what exactly it'll take to get a production kit for all of the xD fans/owners out there. More info to come.

Whack-A-Mole 03-28-2011 11:11 PM

Thanks, and best of luck! I've got money put back for a kit, but it's been a long wait. One question I have is if if I get a turbo kit how would that effect emissions testing? I live in a county that just checks for engine codes and gas cap seal.

The codes can be tuned out if any are thrown and the gas cap seal will not be an issue.

Whack-A-Mole 03-29-2011 09:30 PM

Well thanks for the heads up! I knew the gas cap seal was not a issue, but I wondered about hooking it up to the obd.

Their has been interest since the xD was released but people tend to back out once real world cost are understood. Any serious power would be require internal upgrades and beefing up of the transmission. It is possible to see an 6K-8Kprice tag when it is all said and done and once you reach that price point then other sports car become available that would be better options.

Whack-A-Mole 03-30-2011 05:30 AM

I'm familiar with all that, but I think 200 hp (total) would be safely realized with a good tune. I was wanting to know what Greddy was wanting to see. I like my car for what it is, but a little more pep would go a long way! Thank you Rally XD for keeping us up on the info, and keep up the good works!

Rally xD 04-01-2011 08:51 AM

First dyno session went without any problems. We obviously didn't push it and wanted to make sure everything was working correctly. We got 40+ horsepower, 45+ lbs of torque at 4 psi. We'll post the first dyno sheet shortly on the site. More dyno/tuning to coming.

Whack-A-Mole 04-01-2011 08:46 PM

Cool beans! The intercooler bypass is pretty neat as well.

First Dyno Session...Success

1 Attachment(s)
So we had our first dyno session and so far so good. We still have our engine in place and everything is working. We haven't developed any of the engine's internals and are hoping to just get a little more power out of those slow dirt/snow/mud turns on the stages.

On this first session we were only at 4 psi. We got about 50+ horses and lbs of torque. I believe Greddy installed a restrictor to keep everything down as a precaution. Stayed tuned.

Rally xD 04-04-2011 10:20 AM

Video of the dyno session from greddy.

150 to the ground is nice, you should definitely feel that!

Arwen 04-04-2011 04:13 PM

Very nice! Love the blog :)

Turbo xD Dyno Sheet

1 Attachment(s)
Tuning almost done. Greddy has prepped the xD to run on a low and high setting during competition. More info to come online at the team site.

Whack-A-Mole 04-06-2011 09:22 AM

Good gracious! I thought you were done, and here you have crept closer to 200hp with 167hp. With the LSD I bet the car feels like a different animal!
