So Ted, have any of your painted covers been tested on a engine in daily use? Or is it too hot under the hood to keep the artwork there for an extended period? I plan on keeping my cover off the car except for display at shows - I'm afraid the heat will discolor the paint or make it peel or something nasty. Perhaps I'm being overly cautious, but...

Anyway, I was at the dealer about three weeks ago, getting my State inspection/emissions test, and I checked with the parts department - a brand new cover for an xD only costs a little over $70, so I'll probably buy one eventually to put on the car for daily driving...

Cylon_xD 04-10-2010 04:43 PM

I just got back from the first car show of the season for me, Ted, they really liked your engine cover artwork! Lots of people were taking pictures of the cover. I posted up a few pics over in the "2010 Car Shows" thread in the General Discussion forum...

TheLittleDeviant 04-10-2010 09:53 PM

I recommend not keeping it on for daily use. I'm glad everyone liked the work. Any trophies?

Cylon_xD 04-11-2010 11:26 AM

no, I don't really have a chance winning any trophies at those kind of shows - too many dedicated "Show Cars" there to compete against - you know, the kind they put 30 Grand into and trailer in to the shows... :disgust:

x2cafn8dx 04-11-2010 07:01 PM

sounds familiar lol

TheLittleDeviant 04-11-2010 11:32 PM

Yup, there are a couple around here too...

Cylon_xD 04-12-2010 08:22 AM

That's why I prefer the Scion-only shows - except then usually you don't have ENOUGH competition there - if youre not the only xD, maybe there's one other if your lucky, or if they group the xA and xD together in one division, you may have one more car to compete against... it's no fun winning a trophy for being the only car in your class now, is it? :emotions36:

I think my most best-est feat was winning Best in Show last summer at an all-Scion show in Allentown, PA, I was the only xD there so I was competing against 18-20 tCs and xBs that were all done up pretty nice, and I still beat all of them out - Hooray for the lowly xD!

I agree on the not enough competition, but one of my pet peeves is when different models are classed together... xB1's and xB2's, and xA's and xD's... drives me bonkers... although the xB's not as much, only cause both Gens at least have the same name... :laughing1:

Cylon_xD 04-12-2010 09:03 AM

My biggest pet-peeve occurred at another small Scion show I went to last year, only about 13 cars were there, but someone trailered-in one of those so-called "show cars," an xB with mega mods on it - the Dealer had about 8 cash prize awards they were giving out, like best theme, best paint, best interior, etc, and the show car won like six of them, the dude got something like $400-$500 dollars... that suxed for the rest of us with daily driver cars... ah well.

I HATE THAT TOO!!!!!
Last show I hosted I made sure that it was 1 trophy a person.

I finally got a pic from the Nightmare before Christmas heat shield owner:

Nice! I go to another car show this coming Saturday the 24th, it's another all-model car show, but it's a fairly big one, I believe... I'll get to show off your Cylon cover again, Ted!

How's Monica's cover coming along?

TheLittleDeviant 04-17-2010 05:01 PM

Almost 100% done actually :)

WIP on my friends tC:
http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/IMG_0897.jpg

So I am thinking about doing my stock hood and putting it up for sale. I have wanted to do a hood design for a while, so I think I am going to go nuts on it and just see how it comes out...

Any interest?

YELOSUB 05-19-2010 10:14 PM

That tC one turned out pretty cool...

JJGeneral1 05-20-2010 07:20 AM

nice ship and anchor!!!

xDizzle 05-20-2010 07:57 AM

that tc 1 is sweet

CXTKRS1 05-20-2010 10:22 PM

Love the tC cover.

TheLittleDeviant 05-21-2010 07:16 AM

Thank you guys, its still needs a lot more artwork on it. The owner has a full sleeve tattoo that I am replicating on the covers, the ship and anchor that you see is a duplicate of his arm. I still need to add 2 birds with a banner between them, a light house, and then some random things like the Kool-Aide Man, and the Zebra from fruit stripe bubble gum.

YELOSUB 05-21-2010 08:43 AM

^^^That will be cool^^^

CXTKRS1 06-08-2010 04:08 PM

As usual excellent work. :)

Midnight_King 06-09-2010 07:10 PM

what do you use for the main coat? airbrush of some kind?

TheLittleDeviant 06-09-2010 07:54 PM

No airbrushing, all of it is hand drawn using paint pens and sharpies.

rhino74s 06-10-2010 10:28 AM

got a chance to see some of your work at Asylum, last week.
Very impressed at the quality!

TheLittleDeviant 06-11-2010 07:37 AM

Well thank you Ryan :)

You should have seen the pumpkin heatshield and the wolverine engine cover, right?

x2cafn8dx 06-11-2010 09:42 AM

As some of you know I had my car in the Scion booth at the Ocean City Car Show. This is one of the pictures carshowcoverage.com took of my car.. love that they focused on Ted's work.

Man, that's some sweet work you're doing out there. Keep it up. I wish I had the ability/patience to get some of the things I see in my head out into the world. I envy guys like you.

K. Hackett... Hmmm..... = Can't hack it? Or am I being to creative. :)

Keith Hackett, he is actually in the military and its verbatum to his Camo's. Its also his Gamertag on xbox live.

But I do like the Can't Hack it line... especially for him, The Xbox is suppose to resemble the Armor worn in Halo. (I was thinking of painting my xbox with the same scheme except in red, so we are Red Vs. Blue) And he is one of the best Halo players I have ever come across. He used to play in tournaments and would net about $2000/month

TexXBox 07-21-2010 12:37 AM

Now I feel a little bad about accidentally disrespecting one of our countries finest. Can't say enough about what the people who put on the uniform (be it military, police, fire, emt, whatever and put themselves in harms way) do for the rest of us schlubs. With out them we'd be up a creek. Tell him thanks for me. And I hope I never meet up with him in a game sometime. :)

TheLittleDeviant 07-21-2010 12:51 PM

LOL, I didnt take it as disrespect to him, In fact I think he will get a kick out of the Cant Hack It line.
