I been on this site for sometime as well on scionlife. the matter of fact is... let them be. we already understand where your coming. but chill. don't be that one douche to ruin it for everyone. if they are wrong or whatever. let them learn. if you want rant about reality. make your own thread and we'll read it from time to time.

Rally xD 05-03-2011 07:29 PM

Quick Update: Saturday's race we finished 4th in class. We had to deal with major damage to the car's exterior and internals and were pretty much running the race at 60% capacity/speed. Will post up a picture soon once i get it. Pretty much our exhaust pipe was hit by rocks to a point it was practically pinched and blocked significant air flow creating extreme build up = down pipe came off = heat released and melted ecu wiring = car went hay wire. The event ended up being a 1 day event due to an accident on one of the stages that lead to a death of a driver.

On Sunday, we entered in a Regional rally event since we were out there after staying up all night Saturday getting the car repaired. Our repairs were good enough to put us in the lead most of the day but the band aid couldn't hold up and the ECU pretty much said that was enough. We were towed by in = DNF.

Videos and images to hit the team site this week. We tested at the Dirtfish facility on Thursday and the car was hauling.

Rally Damaged Exhaust

Check out this picture of our exhaust pipe. This is the "elbow" portion going around the fuel tank to the exhaust can. Definitely not what you want when you have a turbo feeding extra heat and air.

simmons0613 05-03-2011 10:40 PM

Holy Sh**, how did you manage that? You must have bottomed out really hard while that thing what white hot.

Whack-A-Mole 05-03-2011 10:47 PM

Wow, that looks like it took a proper beating. Did you guys get any footage at full speed before the exhaust took a shellacking? 4th isn't horrible. You just have to wait till next time. I'm proud you guy are racing the XD!

Me thinks you might have posted in the wrong thread.

xd_kidd 05-04-2011 06:40 PM

No its targeting you and its not on a wrong thread if your replying to it.. Enough said...

Rally xD 05-06-2011 09:15 AM

Actually....the damage to the pipe wasn't from bottoming out. it's from impact from rocks underneath. There was so much impact and serious impact that it pinched the pipe closed and event pulled the exhaust down/off forcing the down pipe to get disconnected. Thats what lead to major issues on the car...all the heat was released in the worst area and our ecu pretty much got fried.

We'll be releases videos and pics on the team site soon. Will share some teasers here when i get them.

Skeeno 05-06-2011 09:41 AM

Thanks, Rally xD. I love these updates. You guys are really good at keeping your blog and website up to date.

Does my honesty bug you kidd? I will not censor what I have to say and if you do not like it then I suggest you grow a thicker skin. For the most part I enjoy my xD with only minor complaints. I also enjoy seeing a professional race team use the xD since this will help with the creation of aftermarket parts for our cars since obviously membership group buys do not work.

in a way it does cause most of what you say is repetitive.. it doesn't hold much power.. needs internal.. ect ect.. we get the point lol. let ppl believe whatever they wanna believe. if they think pigs can fly.. let them be nd let them learn.

simmons0613 05-07-2011 09:48 AM

To kidd and CXTKRS1, I'm sorry guys but do you mind not blowing up this thread with arguments. This thread is keep everyone up todate with the rally xD. I dont mind you guys having a little argument and showing your opinions but could you please move it somewhere else, such as a PM. Please keep this thread positive to keep everyones moral up for this car. Thanks.

robbiej 05-07-2011 09:23 PM

Hoping to get out to the Oregon Trail Rally this Friday to see the Rally xD.

simmons0613 05-07-2011 09:28 PM

I would love to see it but I'm stuck down here in north Florida. plus Im flat broke.

Rally xD 05-08-2011 11:52 AM

robbiej - any chance you'll be in OR thursday night? There is a fan appreciation display right in downtown Portland Thursday afternoon. Then in the evening, Scion Racing/Sparco Rally xD will be hosting a small reception.

robbiej 05-08-2011 05:13 PM

hmm, wow, that would be great. I work swingshift and was going to take Fri. off to hit PIR, but may take Thurs. off instead. Where is the receptin taking place? I heard that the fan appreciation is at Pioneer Square.

xd_kidd 05-09-2011 02:32 AM

I've noticed on the site that you just got a clutch kit. reminds if theres any flywheel that is compatable with ours?

Rally xD 05-09-2011 10:55 AM

xd_kidd - Yes we got a kit from ACT. They spec'ed our stock clutch and they had a compatible one off the shelf. I'm waiting on them to get the exact part number/etc.

robbiej - Yes there is a fan appreciation day at the courthouse. A pretty cool and relaxing event where you can check out a lot of the cars competing this weekend. The reception location is still a secret. If you do end up going, let me know. I can give you details later or even at the fan appreciation event.

XDevolution 05-09-2011 12:16 PM

any word on any other aftermarket parts for the XD and how about the greddy turbo kit whats the deal with that?

xd_kidd 05-09-2011 12:24 PM

I like the xd is running f/i .. but would be happy if they had cams and pistons.. any way that you can find information if theirs any other engine compatible with ours. I think we still are pretty much like the 1zz

robbiej 05-09-2011 12:39 PM

I'm going to put in for Thursday off and head down to check out the cars. Wife is leaning towards staying home because its suppose to be cool and rain, like it has almost every day the last month or so, lol. Being a stem cell transplant patient, she doesn't want to take the chance of getting a cold or anything, immune system is still rebuilding.

I do not know of any company currently producing any after market pistons or rods for the 1.8L but any large company could make you a custom one off set. Their of course would be a cost increase but it is really not that much, guys with custom bore and stroke engines do it all the time.

xd_kidd 05-09-2011 01:35 PM

Yea im pretty sure they can. But wonder by how much is the question. I decided to keep the car and finish modifying it. mite as well finish lol.

xd_kidd 05-09-2011 10:00 PM

did you use the E350 Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential?

i hope its that one lol, its the only scion/toyota lsd there. i just did the currency exchange rate conversion, thats gonna cost $955 not to mention shipping and handling. and would it work for automatics?

Rally xD 05-10-2011 06:51 PM

We did use a quaife originally but now we are using one from KAAZ. OTR will be our first event with the KAAZ. Sorry, a lot of info on this is still hard to get as testing etc isn't all finished but the hardest part of it is finding compatibility.

Whack-A-Mole 05-11-2011 01:59 PM

Watching your blog, I saw your tool kit you carry with you. In your blog you mention an impact gun, and I was wanting to know what kind it was.

Rally xD 05-11-2011 02:08 PM

Snap-On impact gun in the car. Probably not necessary and we could run another brand thats more cost effective. This gun isn't used that often.

Whack-A-Mole 05-11-2011 03:35 PM

Reason I ask is I bought a Hitachi WR18DL. It won't knock off the lugs on my car, but I still have use for. I also bought a nameless brand from Walmart for $30 which will only knock off my wheel lugs if the car is running (it runs off the cigarette lighter). I've heard the Snap on cordless impact wrench is held with well regard.

Rally xD 05-11-2011 05:00 PM

honestly....no one will every say anything bad about Snap-on.

robbiej 05-14-2011 09:51 PM

There are some videos up on rally-america.com from the OTR. The xD is in a couple of them and some cool in car videos. http://www.rally-america.com/

robbiej 05-15-2011 06:18 PM

Congrats on the 7th place overall and 1st in 2wd class at the Oregon Trail Rally. Wish I could've been there. Listened in on OTR internet radio and caught some of the interviews with ACP at the end of some of the stages, sounds like they were having fun battling with the Mazda Speed3. Way to hammer it home guys.

simmons0613 05-16-2011 10:45 PM

Did greddy ever say if they where going to sell the turbo system?

Whack-A-Mole 05-16-2011 11:08 PM

God, I hope so!

xd_kidd 05-16-2011 11:48 PM

what ii want are some camshafts and pistons! lol

lol

that would be very nice as well. definitly would give more support for the turbo kit. i still actually would like to see a supercharger, but, the turbo kit is still better than nothing.

couldnt you just have some custom pistons made for you? That would be nice to say that you have 1 off pistons.

xd_kidd 05-17-2011 12:28 PM

i can but im estimating ii would pay an additional 50% from what aftermarket pistons and camshafts would cost *shrugs*

simmons0613 05-17-2011 12:29 PM

ya thats understandable. I guess all we can do it just wait and pray someone hears out plea.
