turbo kits

as you all know, theres no xD turbo kit on the market. that may change in the near future as my fabricator ( JRX Performance) has had a lot of fun tinkering with my scions. he is thinking about building a turbo kit for the xD in the near future IF there is enough of a market demand for it. dont expect to break the sound barrier with your xD, the kit will be something that functions well, and is reliable. if you want to go balls to the wall, u can always swap like my xD did.

what do u think? hehe

TheLittleDeviant 08-13-2009 08:21 AM

I think I would be the first in line to get a manifold/downpipe...

I am so close to completing my kit...

I dont understand why companies cant just make the parts and see how it goes... make like 3 kits and if they sell, great, make 5 more... if they dont, part em out for other cars and only take a hit on 3 of them total...

CXTKRS1 08-13-2009 11:42 AM

I guess the fear of losing money on the R&D side of things is what keeps companies from doing it.

misformartin 08-13-2009 12:09 PM

if its not worth it to the companey they are not gonna make product to have them sit on a shelf.... i for one would buy a kit mike as i already have talked to you : )

M2-Motoring 08-13-2009 12:44 PM

lol thanks martin.

as for just making a one or two piece kit, yes that is possible but that would be billed as a "one off" kit. much more expensive. if theres enough demand to do at least 5-10 kits to start off with, we'd definitely look into it =)

misformartin 08-13-2009 02:41 PM

so when can i get mine made mike : ) maybe beginning of next year... : )

TheLittleDeviant 08-13-2009 03:00 PM

If the price is decent I might do a whole kit from you, then I can sell off my current parts/old project car and have plenty left over for upgrades too :)

misformartin 08-13-2009 03:47 PM

yo the guy that woudl be making the kit is crazy legit jrx engineering kills the mazda game and have done good work for me in the past... im going to get with mike and see about getting the ball rolling on this : )

TheLittleDeviant 08-14-2009 07:56 AM

Please, some one talk them into doing it... I dont think I can handle another tease...
We already have had at least 3 companies who said they would do it and have fallen through...

M2-Motoring 08-14-2009 12:56 PM

JRX can do it for sure. im going to go over details and see how much it would cost. need a actual legit deposit from every buyer to ensure that they will sell at least 5 kits and they'll put the kit into production =)

I know all too well...:emotions122: Glad to see another company stepping up...

TheLittleDeviant 08-21-2009 09:14 AM

Any word Mike?

M2-Motoring 08-21-2009 12:25 PM

not yet dude. we've been busy knocking out tuning and final stuff for a tC turbo kit im helping them market. ill get an answer soon tho =)

gotDAMD 08-23-2009 10:07 PM

Just seen your xD in a mag at the grocery store. Nice feature and write up. Wish they would have done a few more pics.

M2-Motoring 09-04-2009 12:38 PM

the kits im looking to build for the xD from my company are going to be selling minus fuel management aiming at 2k a set lol.

no diss to ptuning tho they do great work im friends with the peeps over there

TheLittleDeviant 09-04-2009 02:10 PM

That was my initial reaction too...

2 thousand on a deposit... usually means 6,000+ for total price... and they have not given an estimate on actual price for it either...

what type of deposit did you require mike?

M2-Motoring 09-04-2009 04:16 PM

thats what im waiting on. if you guys are patient we're going into r&d post sema. the shop i work with on developing all this is extremely busy for the next month or so getting sema vehicles ready so we're looking afterwards. please be patient. if anything half deposit to ensure a for sure kit. we're aiming at a very reasonable price for the kit. =)

M2-Motoring 09-08-2009 02:38 AM

i agree to seeing 200whp. although, i personally dont think thats fast. for a xD yes its fast, but then again im use to driving much faster vehicles. =)

regardless the turbo kit we'll be working with JRX on will be affordable and fun!

M2-Motoring 09-08-2009 06:57 PM

We already have a r&d vehicle. Thanks for the offer. Currently im letting JRX catch up on their work as they are backlogged on mazdas because of a waiting list. Great niche market to be a great shop in, but the work does become overbearing at times. Also our r&d car will be on display at sema w/o the kit of course. Once it's back from sema, we will be r&d'ing the kit.

This is promising news...

M2-Motoring 09-09-2009 01:06 AM

in all respect to mike and the crew at ptuning, lets move all jrx kits posts back to the other thread. thanks everyone!

TheLittleDeviant 09-09-2009 09:41 AM

-Moved-

So Mike, when is SEMA? and do we get some sneak peak pictures?

BTW, in a week I will have money in hand for your turbo kit... any idea on what to expect for parts etc? type of turbo? internally/externally waste gated? type of BOV? type of intercooler? and any idea on fuel management? sorry for the barrage of questions but I am curious now that I know its only a month or 2 away from being R&D'd...

M2-Motoring 09-09-2009 05:18 PM

that i am waiting to sit down and talk with JRX about. we'll go over the details of everything post sema. they are very busy with getting caught up with work before we go into production with the kit. turbowise im guessing t3/t4, external wastegate and bov of course. brand i havent looked into what we're going to use yet. we'll be using a mishimoto intercooler and on fuel management more than likely aem fic and an injector upgrade. the fic seems to be a favorite amongst many. we will probably sell the kit minus fuel manage to make the cost of it much lower. with that everyone's got the option of what they want for fuel management also.

TheLittleDeviant 09-10-2009 01:07 PM

would you be able to supply maps with the kit if we decide to go with the same type of fuel management?

and I personally am partial to AIResearch/Garrett turbos...

misformartin 09-10-2009 02:45 PM

im sure the kit will come preturned with a street tuned basemap... but it still will have to be tuned proffesionaly..

He said that they will not be providing a fuel management system so there would be nothing to tune with... but they use the AEM FIC like they plan too, we can do the same and hopefully get maps from Mike himself...

misformartin 09-10-2009 07:33 PM

hmm.. my understanding is that they would sell 2 versions of the kit one with and one without... so i was under the impression if you opted to get the fic it would come pre tuned... i could be wrong though...

M2-Motoring 09-10-2009 09:29 PM

martins on the money on that one =) i need to go over stuff with jrx soon regarding this. stay tuned folks!

misformartin 09-11-2009 03:19 PM

: )

TheLittleDeviant 09-14-2009 10:14 AM

oh alright cool, I must have been misformartin'd.... lol. Well, I will be looking for the the kit with tuning capabilities :D

misformartin 09-14-2009 02:54 PM

for sure the aem fic is a sick unit... i wish i ran that in my xb instead of the emanage blue... : )

---------- Post added at 07:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:53 PM ----------

TheLittleDeviant 09-15-2009 09:09 AM

xd_kidd 09-16-2009 02:10 PM

deff. looking foward to this =D

DeathMachine 09-17-2009 08:39 PM

This is good news to me! I know that I don't come on here very often, cause I often forget about this forum... But I'm glad that this information has come to light somewhere! I'm down for it! I'm kind of already working on a home-made kit, but I'm definitely willing to scrap it for a chance at a good quality kit!
