Hi Guys and Gals! I just deleted a bunch of spam threads... sorry, been fairly absent from the site for quite awhile... but my email was filling up with reported spam posts, so here I am, lol...
Anyway, my xD is still running OK... I did have an issue just before Thanksgiving where one of the two shift cables broke or fell apart somwhere near the transmission. The dealer had to replace the cable, but fortunately it was under warranty, so it cost me nothing except $61 for a full synthetic oil change I asked to be done while it was in the shop. Really weird feeling - I had just pulled away from a stop sign driving home one evening, and when I shifted into 2nd, the stick just went backwards all the way without any stop. Same thing in 4th; Reverse I couldn't even find. 1st and 3rd were fine, but all the gears on the lower part of the shift pattern were affected. I could still shift very carefully into 2nd and 4th well enough to drive home, and then drive to the dealer two days later to get it fixed. They had the car for a full week, waiting for the dang part. Good thing I have my Dodge Ram 4x4 as a backup vehicle to drive while my xD was in the shop that long! I'll be taking my xD to the tire shop this Saturday to get my aftermarket wheels/tires swapped out for the stock rims/all-season tires, for the winter months. The stockies only have about 3,000 miles on them, so the tread is like new yet - much better than the slick sport tires i'm running, which are totally worthless even with just a dusting of snow... And that's your latest Cylon_xD Update, for now... 1:30 AM, time for me to get to bed! ;) |
Aghh we meet again lol
I think I got all the spammers :)
Dang, what the hey... about 8-10 spam posts a day now... :emotions122:

getting out of hand
I need to wait for Shaggy to get on the forum. I am having trouble banning the new spammers...
oh this is getting out of control. It's hard to even follow stuff now because of the spam :(
Got 'em!
And another round of spam starts.
In PM.. i got a PM spam message from maycladally
yeah, mee tooo... This is nutz... Shaggy, is there anyway with this forum software to put a review hold on new members, so they need to get admin approval before posting on the site? I think we're going to have to do something like that to keep this spam from swamping the site...
Would adding one of those random letter/number generators that you have to match and enter into a box (to prove you are a "live" human) while you are creating an account help? I would think that a lot of the "new" members were created by an automated bot of some sort judging by the number of them and I have seen such tactics used on other sites to prevent it from happening.
And/or have an admin send PM's that require a "human" response within a certain time period to keep an account active to weed out dead wood and spammers. If an account does go inactive could it remain for a designated period of time with the limited ability only of contacting the admin to re-activate it? That way if something happened to a legit member they could still keep their account without having to create a new one. |
I just added a decent spam bot stopper. So it should stop a ton of spam bots from signing up. Now with the ones that have already signed up, we will still have to take care of those as they post. So please keep an eye out for them.
Sorry about all this guys/gals. |
It's ok.. Just rather annoying when trying to sift through
Should be good now. The mod is blocking alot of them that are trying to sign up. Its amazing the amount of spam bots trying to signup.

Scooby snacks for Shaggy!
:adminpower: |
thank god that was getting out of controll
Yea, sorry about that. Its amazing how these things work. They had registered like 80+ spam bot users in one day on here. Crazy!
wow
NOW do you think it's time to clean up the member list? :emotions36:
Seems that bot is doing a great job, I have yet to see another automated spam thread.
Well it seems they attacked as again. Look at all who signed up. Need to do some more cleaning tonight :(
they are signing up.. but i am not seeing the mass threads
I don't think we will get anymore. I found a new captcha that could keep them from signing up.
Thank you :)
More Scooby Snacks for Shaggy!!! :adminpower: :party33:
