Here but not here

I don't have an xD yet but I am "willing to learn". Currently gathering intel and the xD is the leading candidate so far!

Welcome. We will help as much as we can with any questions you have.

firstkingofbeer 07-13-2012 12:43 PM

what other cars are you looking at?

TKxD 07-13-2012 04:49 PM

Kia Soul, Mini Countryman, Nissan Juke, Mazda3, Toyota Matrix. All seem to have pluses and minuses. Xd seems to have the best match for price, reliability, mpg, and...I just kinda like it!

firstkingofbeer 07-14-2012 04:20 PM

outta those options i like the mazda3. but the xd is a great car. my wife has a matrix and she loves it. its not my style though but its still a great car as well. shes never had any issues with it.

TKxD 07-14-2012 04:41 PM

Yeah the Mazda3 would be next in line but I test drove one and it just seemed kinda....bland.
Not happy to hear the xD (might be, will be) discontinued though!

Resolve 07-16-2012 06:59 AM

Oh the xD WILL BE discontinued..

Out of the options posted Mazda3, Countryman, Matrix, Juke, NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER a Kia. Did i say NEVER. Have you looked at the new Ford Focus. My wife and I just got one for her and she loves it and it is a nice ride. I was never a FORD person but I like it. Mainly because it has more power than my vehicles.

Plus if you want to mod it there is some performance stuff out. 160hp stock. multiple dynos with both the automatic and manual have shown WHP around 148 to 150. and couple of guys with just intake and exhaust are putting 170 to the wheels. dyno proven. People with just an intake are putting down around 10 to 11 whp more again dyno proven.

Only concern I have with Ford is long term reliability.

Resolve 07-16-2012 12:50 PM

Mazda and Ford both use same equipment for most part (.i.e. engine). Mazda 3 is same platform as Ford Focus.

I would go with a 2013 Focus though. the 2012 has had some ups and owns like most cars with new model styles. but most have been ironed out. I haven't had any issues personally. Had a transmission update that FORD put out.

Yeah, I gotta admit that I test drove an xD and just plain liked it. Test drove the Mazda3 and just....not so much. Nothing WRONG, but just lacked....?

I am also pleased to see that I can add so much "stuff" to it and still be under 20K.

Have done lots of reading, research, etc., but if we keep this car as long as we have kept our others, I want to LIKE it, not just feel like it's "ok". I admit that's intangible, but admitting it is the first step, right?

JDMJim 07-18-2012 10:04 AM

I begin to dislike my xD over the years....I prefer driving my xB1 instead....it just feels more solid and responds to driver input better...

Resolve 07-18-2012 10:42 AM

^^^i was glad to get another xb1 earlier this year. I love it. but i also enjoy driving the xd.

overall I love xb 1 over xd. but i still like both

firstkingofbeer 07-23-2012 12:14 PM

lol i know how yall feel. im on the verge of selling it every couple weeks. only thing is ive only got a year and a half left in the states and dont really wanna deal with trying to sell another vehicle after trying to sell this one. but hey if the price is right ill sell it no problem
