Supercharger

So in browsing the usual sites i came across this http://toyotapartspeople.com/searchp...rcharger+-+A/T
i i was wondering since people are using the 1zz exhaust manifiold for turbo projects, if the intake manifold flanges would line up aswell? if so this would be a reasonablly priced boost in power : ) only thing is that like the 05+ corollas we would probably need to get an adapter for a throttle body : )

CXTKRS1 02-25-2010 07:09 PM

It might, I wonder how much boost you could get away with on a stock xD?

misformartin 02-25-2010 08:08 PM

well the stock 1zz supercharger puts out 8 pounds... there was a guy in puerto rico running 10 pounds with no engine manegement and it lasted about a year : ) so im sure with some tuning 10 psi is probable

newagestar 02-25-2010 11:06 PM

id rather supercharge than turbo . this i may look into

xd_kidd 02-25-2010 11:28 PM

that be cool. ii also pondered with the tc s/c retrofitting into the xd but all this lack of parts is kinda upsetting.

yah all someone would need to do would be to get a 1zz intake manifold gasket and a xd intake manifold gasket and compare them if they are the same diameter ports then we can use it : ) and all we would need would be a piggyback ecu and a belt then we can run this : )

xd_kidd 02-26-2010 08:47 AM

there is a guy who completed the kit. modified the headers into a manifold http://www.southernunderground.org/a...bo-on-the-way-

Yah I know the 1zz exhaust manifold fits but what's in question is the intake manifold which would be replaced by the blower

xd_kidd 02-26-2010 02:28 PM

i need to pay more attention lol. I see what your saying. It does seem probable

misformartin 02-26-2010 03:17 PM

haha all good gonna do some research : ) gonna go get a 1zz intake manifold gasket and compair it to the xd intake manifold gasket this weekend hopefully

xd_kidd 02-26-2010 03:45 PM

haha sounds good. goodluck!

misformartin 03-01-2010 11:59 AM

alright so the supercharger will not bolt up without some modification.... the ports are the same but the bolt holes are different... : ( so thats a bust but you can get a new flang welded on the charger to make it bolt directly up to our block : ) so this is possible with a little work

xd_kidd 03-01-2010 02:58 PM

ok now try the the yaris s/c lol. the other route is swapping for a 1zz or 2zz nd then s/c but thats $$$

how far off? like grab a drill and get to it? or weld on new metal and then start drilling?

misformartin 03-01-2010 03:47 PM

you will need to weld on new metal... to the charger and cut off the mounting for the 1zz... but the ports match up : ) yaris sc wont work its a for a 1.5l motor and the ports wont line up guy with a yaris ts already tried haha

TheLittleDeviant 03-01-2010 03:55 PM

I see, so its not an easy task then

misformartin 03-01-2010 05:51 PM

would be realatively easy... : ) you just need to trace your stock intake mani onto some metal and have it cut out : ) then have it welded to the 1zz supercharger : ) wiring it up is a whole different story haha

xd_kidd 03-01-2010 09:01 PM

not trying to be noob about it but wouldnt it still need to be tuned? lol

TheLittleDeviant 03-02-2010 09:18 AM

I wouldnt think it would need a tune if your keeping a low boost. tC's can run them untuned from the factory, Yari can go untuned as well...

xd_kidd 03-02-2010 10:25 AM

yea low boost is fine but eventually its going to need one. to be safe in the long run
