Step by Step xD Spacer Shim Installation w/PICS

***Mods could we sticky this please***

Ok. we forgot to take pics on the first side, and it went way too easy... so we took pics on the other side.

here is the spacer shim and hardware for 1 wheel.

Before adding 10mm Randode Spacer Shim:

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...ub/Spacer2.jpg

Break the lug nuts loose, then jack up and support vehicle with jack stands.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...ub/Spacer4.jpg

Remove the wheel to expose the brake drum.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...ub/Spacer5.jpg

Make sure the parking brake is released and pull off the drum.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...ub/Spacer7.jpg

Locate and remove the four hub bolts with a 14mm socket and ratchet.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...ub/Spacer8.jpg

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...ub/Spacer9.jpg

Locate the ABS sensor wire on the back of the hub. there is a plastic cover over the plug that must be removed to access the button on the bottom to release the plug.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...b/Spacer10.jpg

At this point the hub can be removed.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...b/Spacer11.jpg

Pull the brake backing plate away from the axle flange and slide the spacer shim into place.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...b/Spacer12.jpg

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...b/Spacer13.jpg

Line up the shim and put the backing plate back into position.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...b/Spacer14.jpg

Put some red loc-tite on the supplied bolts and bolt the hub back on. Leave the bolts loose until all four have been started. Torque to about 40 foot pounds.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...b/Spacer15.jpg

Plug the ABS sensor wire back onto the hub.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...b/Spacer16.jpg

Reinstall drum.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b...b/Spacer17.jpg

Put the wheel back on, torque it down, and lower the car back to the ground.
stand back and admire your new wide stance.

Awseome DIY review Tim! Most excellent way to contribute to the forum. Looked like it took about 20-30 minutes from start to finish?

YELOSUB 02-07-2010 11:02 AM

Thanks, glad we could help...Can we get it stickied?

I would say 30 minutes or so...We did this like 3 times that day because I tried different sized spacers and were able to nail it down in less than 10 minutes start to finish for each side...

Thanks....It looked good with the TRD's but when I switched to the DF's i had to remove them because I rubbed like crazy even after grinding the inner fender lip...I need to run a stretched set up in the rear...

CXTKRS1 02-11-2010 12:16 AM

Curious, did you sell your TRD's or do you still have them?

YELOSUB 02-11-2010 10:06 PM

I sold them...

I hate to say I told you so, Tim, but... :)

it does sux, I really would like to widen my wheel stance like that too, but to do that, you def can't go any lower than a TRD drop... And I don't want to have to modify my fenders... If someone made replacement flared fenders like in a body kit, that would be great, but then I'd never be able to afford it anyway, lol...

Where do you guys get your rear spacers from.

I ordered a set from randode.com...but not sure if or when I will ever get them...

Any other suppliers?

YELOSUB 04-18-2012 09:02 PM

When did you order your spacers? PM your info if you want and I will personally call Randy and make sure he gets on it...He's dealing with some personal sh^t...
