2012 xd ?
2012 xd? just wondering if they are stopping production haven't heard anything on a 2012. On a second note. I own a 2011 and they changed the rear head rests on the 2011 and the new ones do not go as far down as the old ones and do not look as good. Does anyone know if i can buy head rests for a 2010 and put them in my car. :gathering:

Maybe you can try the auto salvage yard or something...Also maybe put a wanting to trade add in the classifieds, you never know...Maybe someone wants the bigger headrests for the rear seats so they can mount headrests tv's for car shows?
Lol yea right. Maybe if u live like in florida or california there mite be ppl who puts xd parts in the classified. Ebay or amazon? Lol

Ok, well thats almost true with me. I'm always changing my stuff.
that's the scion community in general. everyone is always changing their car's look. in 07 i had about $3000 worth of mods on my 06 xB and i only spent about $300 through the scion community.

You guys figured me out huh? Haha.
I am with you on the headrest. I would like the older one too.
hey guys, im the girlfriend that c4w22 is referring to. i got my scion at a checkered flag toyota, and freaked out when i saw the new headrests...literally blocks the left and right side of the rear window completely...went to parts and they couldn't order headrests from any of the older models. but yea, turned out well, my dealer swapped out my headrests with an older used model that was sitting on the lot :P
i know that my boyfriend said he saw someone on ebay selling old ones. that was our backup plan if we couldnt get them from the dealership. good luck! |
I love my 08 headrests. I just hate it when somebody gets out of the back and doesnt put them down. My brother is horrible with that.
yea, the headrests are huge in the 2011. lol. im gonna have to go check my dealership and see if i can work something out and maybe get me some smaller ones from a later year model.
I have yet to see these new headrests, might stop by the dealer today to see how horrible they look.
here are the old 2011 headrests that were in my xD:

I was thinking you all were just picky... but those really are bad. I wonder if the old style got bad safety ratings or something? |
LMAO WTF is up with that. I bet people were complaining that they were having to raise the seat headrest and they was to much work for some fat ass Americans.
those are awful
the least they could of done is turn those things horizontal...
That's hideous! Lol
Glad mines a 2010. :)
I agree that those are the most hideous looking headrests I have ever seen...They look to also be a huge hazard...WTF were they thinking?
the xD I test drove in 08 had it's head rests up and the first thing I said when I got on the car is what's up with the headrests, I can't see out the back window. then I found out they retracted into the seat. I may not have bought the car otherwise.
I remove mine for 80% of time. Also, the manual says you have to remove them in order to fold the seats down for cargo area. One just has to use their side view mirrors more that's all.

new headrests functional?
Queena,
I am wanting to do the same thing. I am so glad you posted on here that you were able to have the 2011 headrests changed out for 2010. I am wondering, with the replacement headrests, are you still able to adjust them up or down like in the 2010? Or, do they just occupy the headrest holes and can't be adjusted? Thanks! Lindsay |

Hope that helps! And good luck! |
replacement headrests
Very helpful - thank you! My dealer told me the old style headrests are $400 a piece, so they recommended I look on ebay and craigslist for someone selling them cheaper.
Thanks again! Lindsay |
