(!) indicator light

Well, it kind of looks like that with a line underneath. Sort of like a fishbowl with an exclamation point inside. It's yellow and not in the book. As far as I can google it's the tire pressure light.

Silly question... I'm in S FL and the weather has recently gone from 90's to upper 70's & 80's. With the weather conditions, here, can I inflate my tires to the max (44) psi?

(Maybe it'll boost my mileage which seems to have dropped which I had been attributing to running the A/C full tilt since April.)

I'm off with my tire gauge headed for the place with the free air. 'Tis much easier to let air out than find a place to put some in. ;)

Thanks in advance for your input/advice!

pressure light for tires

Jay Smyles 10-10-2010 12:50 PM

yep.. tire pressure light. so far ive never had any trouble with it for over 2 years now

Yep you can run 44 psi but check for center wear every now and then. I run 40 psi in all my tires and have picked a few mpgs because of it.

Remember, just changing/adjusting the tire pressure only may not turn off the light. If it stays on after you get everything set you probably need to re-set the tire pressure monitoring system. Turn the key on to the run position without starting the car. Press and hold the tire pressure monitoring re-set button in the panel under the steering column. The tire pressure warning indicator will flash three times then go off. Release the button and turn the key off. Start the car and the light should be off and the system re-set for the new tire pressures.

ahh...thats what that random little button does! good trick :)

JDMJim 10-13-2010 05:37 PM

not that random. it's labeled

Thanks all!
After I put air in the light took until I started to drive and then turned off. Thanks for the advice and now I know where the reset button is should I need it.

The funny thing was the light looked like a fishbowl and my car has no fish tank in it. I wonder who though up that design. ;D

I checked the tires for outside edge wear, when I saw I had only 28 psi in them. As of now I only have 12k miles on the car. The pressure may have been higher while the weather was so brutal all summer.

That light indicator is my worst enemy lol, when thats on i 99% of the time have have a nail or nails in my tire(s) i think on one tire alone i probably have had it patched and plugged about 6 times. badddd luck.

this is exactly why i love the TPMS! so i'm not cruising down the road at highway speeds with a nail in my tire and have a severe blow out.

also like when it gets cold up here.. all my tires drop 4-5 psi... and it lets me know. I kinda like that.. but hey.. it's on all the damn time now because my rims are off for the winter

You could always carry them along in the back. It would turn the light off and add traction enhancing ballast.

;)

indicator light

Sounds like the indicator relay is stuck.Pull relays out of the fuse box till the light goes out - then you know which is the faulty one, then replace it.
