Default Winter Tire/Wheel Swap
Hi All,

This is a tire pressure monitoring system problem. My XD originally came with steel wheels so I bought Scion rims and had the OEM tires taken off the steel wheels & put onto the rims. This was done at a small, local shop in my area. The swap was done without problem & the TPMS is functioning fine. In order to get better traction in the winter and to protect the rims from salt, I decided it would be a good idea to mount snow tires on the steel wheels. The tire shop said that they could mount the snow tires without the TPMS valves. Of course this means that the dashboard TPMS light will come on. I thought that I could either turn off the TPMS light or get after market sensors for the snow tires but when I called the dealership, the service tech just told me to let the light stay on. He also said that the TPMS could only be set for 5 tires at a time and, even if I got after market sensors for the snow tires, every time I swapped the snows for the summer tires the TPMS had to be reset at the dealership ($120!). Is there any way I could either turn off the TPMS light or resent the TPMS?

Thanks,
argent
