Thats real debateable. I tried the DIY intake and I didnt like it. Felt like I lost some tq. I now have an Injen cai and its great. Running strong for awhile now. Others swear by the DIY intake. Injen claims 8 hp added I think but idk about all that. Im getting a dyno done tomorrow so ill see where I am with my mods.

I was waiting for that, lmao!!! The way I see it, and this could be close minded, but i have a DIY intake that was on the car when i bought it (spectre) and i dont see where its doing much at all for me. I figure if your spending like 50-60 or less on something like that...how much can you expect it to do?!?! But i will say this...the Injen CAI in BLACK is so sexy that may decide for me from color alone, haha. BUT....I DO WANT TO HEAR A FEW OPINIONS...FOR EXAMPLE IM SURE PEPS ON HERE RUN DIFF. CAI, or SHORT RAMS, ETC. I WANT TO KNOW THE GAINS IN PERFORMANCE PEPS ARE SEEING. And do let me know the results of that dyno.

can do. oh and if i remember right, the black one had issues with the maf sensor not fitting properly. they cut it right, but the paint made the hole a bit too small. i went polished for that reason and had no fitment issues. others just had to sand the paint off around the hole. just a fyi.

Well im gonna think about the possibility of painting a CAI. I guess nobody else has an opinion on there intakes, lol. And yeah dude, im painting that shit!!! Im gonna order some primer and low gloss black soon, i may do some painting today, but prolly just my badges cause whoever had it before me put some shitty paint on them, so i gotta sand and repaint.

I like the K&N cause it comes with a splash guard, and thats nice to have. I like the Takeda because you can go CAI or Short Ram. And does anyone know what the electronically tune means on the AEM?

i think the k&n was too much for what it was. never had a issue with water on my CAI so id imagine the short ram would be easily guarded. for the AEM, youll see the diameter is all the same. on my injen, the diameter where the maf sensor is seated is smaller, so it wont throw codes. im guessing AEM just electronically alters it.

its a good intake. i cut a piece out of the grille cover on that side to get more air to it. once i get the new grille that wont matter. mesh ftw.

my buddy has the dyno graph which i will post once i have it. i was around 125 whp 126 tq. this was my first dyno experience. i went with a group of 3 mini's. they said the dyno was reading low for us all (called it the heart-breaker lol). id hope so since those are stock numbers. unless stock numbers are at the crank and not wheel.

this is the intake me and a buddy got accomplished this weekend. a trip autozone and advanced auto parts and we had everything here. total around $50-$60 including tax wasn't bad. had it done in about an hour.

just starting taking the scion emblems off. should have the toyota emblems on in a day or two.

i have two pics here, one with and one without the engine cover.

thanks! actually yes i do. my exhaust is def a little louder. actually have had a couple people say my car sounds almost like a v6 or v8. lol. i'll take the compliment. as far as performance goes, i noticed a little extra pep from a stop and even on highway speeds.

and its really cool to be able to hear the air getting sucked in as you accelerate. almost gives off a slight whistle at high rpms. i dig it!!

haven't driven enough to notice any mpg gains. that was my main reason for doing it. the appearance and maybe an extra 1-2 mpgs
