Post Your XD: more show than "go"?
Getting a feel for members' goals on this forum. Please vote! Is your car mod plan more into show (exterior/interior styling, huge wheels, slammed, etc) or go (performance upgrades)? or a balance of the two? or are you the type of owner who is happy with the stock configuration?

I would love to go with a balance but our cars are not built for speed. Many of the xd's you see with "turbo system" are either prototypes or home built systems that could over time do horrible damage to your engine. The most you could do it exhaust, CIA, springs/coilcovers and thats about it. Again, this car is not built for speed. Mostly looks and good MPG

My mods have been more performance oriented. I mean the Yaris is a good handling car. So add a 1.8 and call it a XD = fun to drive. So far I have added an Injen intake, TRD short shifter, Dr. Isotope cage bushings and shifter bushings, a TRD rear sway bar, Nitto rear lower strut bar, and 50mm sidewall tires/17" rims. Oh, I also replaced those solid corner pieces with mesh to get cooler air to the intake/engine.
Outside of that I've upgraded my stereo and added a amp< and bought new speakers.

Its not meant for racing but you can def. push this little box.. I nearly slammed my car nd better grip tires.. exhaust nd intake.. it will seem like a lil quick go kart But also balance it out with some cosmetics. Eyelids. Toyota badges ect...

I disagree. It really depends on what kind of racing. Auto X or class specific track racing would be right down XD's alley. It's no drag car, but I don't believe drag lends well to FWD.

Well you are intitled to your opinion. I don't mean as a drag car. But for what it is. In its class. I would consider it pretty quick for its class. Any car can be a drag car. Depends if the person is willing to invest. Mazdaspeed 3 .. srt4 .. vtec hondas.. gti .. some fwd that moves..

you can take ANY car racing. obviously which route you wanna take your XD is up to you, cosmetics vs performance. well to answer my own q, mine is a daily driver but doesn't see that many miles. so that means a balance of the two, but will spend more on performance tires. coilover system not part of my plans at this time. so might go something like this: wheels-tires, rear sway, intake or drop filter (for performance). for styling: tint, eyelids, a few decals, bulbs.

I agree that any car can be made to race. My upgrades for mine are not all performance, but as an afterthought might ad to the appearance. The only nonperformance upgrades I've done are to do with the radio and I got the Ist centerconsole for comfort. Also, Kudos for including tires as a performance upgrade, as it is often over looked by John Q Public. You could have the best setup available, but if your rockin some snow tires with a 1000 treadwear rating your not hanging a corner better than most.

@whack a mole: what does the ist console look like? never heard of it. as far as performance and tires, i just don't understand how some car owners (not just scion) will spend big $ on wheels or a high quality suspension setup but the tires are nothing more than a low budget afterthought.

Well photobucket on my iPhone stopped liking me. So I can't post any pics. I guess I should call it an arm rest, but it has a cup holder on the back and storage in the middle. Having both the Zeta and Toyota Ist arm rest, the Ist is more to my liking. I still have the Zeta though, I just haven't gotten around to selling it.

I would aim for a balance of the two. Right now I am gettign back on track for making it more show oriented it has sat idle for to long and needs some TLC to get back on track. have planned to get painted (temporarly) this month. once I work out some bugs and dents and dings I will go back and get fully repainted.

As for performance I would do more but not alot out there I have a cone filter and have other things planned. I don't expect alot of performance from this vehicle since there isn' the support, at least not at this time. But I can agree that you can race any vehicle. I for one have my own experience recently with a late 90s early 2000s Mustang. I hung with him from dead stop and stayed slightly ahead of him until I shifted early into 4th at which point he passed me slightly and I edged back past him before he let off. It may have been a stock mustang IDK, but it was atleast a 6 cylinder. so for that I was happy that I hung with him and was ahead of him for the most part. Granted not by much but still was a good considering i wasn't out on the prowl for it and the guy tried messing with me for the previous 2 red lights.

not gonna lie, I use bridgestone RE040 on the front and some Kumho back door deals on the back. The car still has better turn-in with the OE tires. I'd love me some super sticky's on the car, but with the weather we been having I may as well be on slicks
