Excuse the language but fuck that dealer, go over their head and call the district guy that works for Toyota itself. They have to prove that your high revving caused your problem.

Mine sounds like a sewing machine also. I have tried 5w30 to no avail.

high revving? isn't redline like 6500 or something? that's not high at all. But if you went there with a intake on it, they will blame that and void your warranty. here's what happens at the dealer. car has an issue. tech guy opens tech manual and plays connect the dots. hey, here is something that isn't in the manual. here's your problem and it isn't an OEM part there. void warranty and send you on your way. that really is how it works. I've been thru this so many times with car stereo work. and that's why i kept all my OE stuff. just in case i need to return it to stock.

But my car is "feeling" weird too. got a bit of a hum in 3rd gear. goes away when clutch is disengaged. a slight crunch when truning slowly over deviations on the road. 2nd to 3rd gear change has a squeak again. But the number one thing I can't figure out is why the car will absolutley not drive straight for any distance. I feel I am always correcting it's direction. My xB1 doesn't do that. And it's the one with air ride and -1.5 degrees of camber up front. My xD has a strange aura about it

Umm... So I dont like to make this info too public because I am an Admin and its a little bit of a conflict of interest... But I am the Scion Sales Manager at a dealership... and I know, for a fact, that valves are not normal wear and tear items... go to a different dealership, preferably one that has had a Scion related event in the past year or so.

I thought I replied to this already... Must not have hit "post".

Anyway, it abounds like they're going to make good on the warranty. Glad to hear it. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with it, but you might want to switch to a good synthetic oil like RedLine or Amsoil. Make sure you get the right grade. I send an oil sample in for testing at each oil change, and each time they recommend that I go longer. I'm going to go 12,000 miles on this oil change. So, it costs more for the oil, but you can go a lot longer between changes. Better oil will be better for your cams, VVTi, and the rest of the engine.

It doesnt... there is actually no way for them to know how fast the vehicle has traveled... ever... (unless you have top speed saved on your GPS) BTW, the xD governs at 127MPH... the car wont let you exceed 130MPH, but you probably dont want to tell them how you know that (or even mention it for that matter)
And incase they try this too, there is no way to tell what RPM's it was at when the knocking started, nor speed, nor gear, nor... should I continue or do we get the idea? Toyota ECU's don't data log...
