Hi! I'm a new Scion xD owner as of Friday the 13th! So far I love it and so does my 17 yr old son. He takes it whenever he can get away with it.
My first love is my 65 VW Beetle but I don't drive that unless it's sunny and dry, which in Ohio isn't often enough. Took 1st place in it this summer at the Columbus Volksfest. In the process of rebuilding the engine this winter on my VW and adding dual carbs and extractor exhaust.
Looking forward to some ideas from the forum for my new everyday ride.
By the way....I'm female and love working on my cars!!
My RS1 is #960. I added 2 albums of my cars. I'll post more pics soon. My Scion is stock but my beetle is definitely not. This looks like a nice place to get ideas and you all have nice rides. Any suggestions on which wheels would be good and not too pricey? Looking for graphite or black.

Hey there Keelie and welcome to the club...How much you looking on spending for rims and tires and what size are you looking for? This way I know how much I have to spend
Well....since this is my daily driver I don't want to go too much in the way of low profile tires so I'd better stick to 16 or 17" I would think. I can get the tires local, I have a friend at the tire shop here in town. I found some Konig Crosshairs that are 18" on eBay for $489 shipped. Don't want to spend more than that. Will this get me into issues with rubbing ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
The Beetle and the D look awesome! Can't wait to see the D with some wheels on it! the Crosshairs are nice, what are the specs on them? you should be able to fit up to 18x8 +35 with no rubbing issues.
I am currently running a 18X8 in a 35 offset...As long as you leave the supsension alone and keep the TRD springs you WILL NOT have any issues with rubbing...Where I ran into problems is that I wanted to go lower and widen my stance so I swapped out my springs for Tanabe DF's and tried to run 10mm, then eventually 5mm spacer shims in the rear but it still rubbed...Even without spacers and the Tanabe DF's, I rubbed with passengers or over bumps so I had to do this to fix the problem:
That's one good thing about a swing axle rear end on my VW, you get the camber without having to make mods to the fenders. Not very good on the wheel bearings though !
