Well, all of the internals are put together, now I am just waiting for some external parts to arrive, most likely the motor will be dropped back in and I will swap things later (some parts are backordered)

Day 4:

Ok so everyone knows, the situation is as follows:

The short block was replaced with a stock one, the head was port and polished. I need to go through a new break in period before I can really beat on it, but as of right now, the xD feels much quicker and throttle response has been improved ten fold, I am planning on dyno'ing it once the break in period is complete. So I will have video/dyno sheet in a couple of weeks. It fired up on first try, and runs super smooth, like butter, if you will. When everything was pulled apart I realized how bad the pistons were and saw that the rings were pretty beaten up as well, plus there was scoring on the cylinder walls, which is why the block got replaced. This was all in preparation for a turbo, which from what I understand, should be available as a kit soon from M2-Motoring. see this link for info on the turbo kit: http://www.scionxdforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=156

I swapped spark plugs to Bosch platinum's, went to full synthetic 0w10 oil and threw on the NST underdrive pulley, I have ordered the TRD dogbone mount and am waiting for it to ship, also I will be bringing the xD to a shop to get a custom intake manifold made. Then will be sending out the throttle body to have it bored out. Soooooo Stay tuned for more info/specs/video/pics...

oh speaking of pics here are the last of them for this session:

Angry Remove Exhaust pipes
Hi Ted,
Nice job you did! I have been waiting to seee your final results, but in the meanwhile, I need some help/info if you can. I tried to install a Strupp CEL Eliminator, and it requires the dropping of the pipes to install in the O2 Sensor bung. I needed to remove the 2 bolts in the springs at the top of the cat pipe and they DON'T BUDGE !! I used an impact gun that I used to remove the Crank Pulley Bolt, and that couldn't even turn the bolts a smidgen. My bolts are not a bit rusty, and I'm sure rust is not the reason they are'nt moving. Please tell me how you take off those 2 bolts. They're really pissin me off. !!!

You couldnt get them off with an impact gun? I hate to ask a stupid question, and I apologize if it offends you, but are you sure you set the gun to loosen the bolts and not tighten them?

LOL, You needn't appologize I had to stop and see if I was going the right way, too ! I was turning the bolt (or should I say Trying to) counter clockwise from the bottom. Since it didn't budge, I tried short bursts of tightening and again loosen, and no dice. The head is showing the impact efforts but it does NOT MOVE I was not sure if there was something else I needed to do befoe those bolts came loose. I'm stumped.

They could be frozen... try using some pb blaster, or liquid wrench...
They say if you cant take an elephant down with a 9mm, try a bigger gun...
Just keep in mind that if you break the head off, your pretty much F*cked...

If you have issues with rust a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone works wonders. Here's a little list:
None ...................... 516 pounds

WD-40 ................... 238 pounds

PB Blaster ............... 214 pounds

Liquid Wrench ......... 127 pounds

Kano Kroil .............. 106 pounds

ATF-Acetone mix.......53 pounds

I used to use PB blaster and it still works great for average stuff.

So I have a small update for you guys, no pics this time though. I swapped in a new tranny yesterday, installed the tranny rollerstopper and did an oil change... Tranny is smooth as butter now. Its been a long time since the xD has felt this good.

Yea, Dyno results look like they are going to take a lot longer than expected. With my work schedule getting to a dyno during normal hours is next to impossible... I will get it done though!!!

Yes Martin, I am using the TRD dogbone from a yaris. Install is cake on it, unbolt the old one, bolt the new one on.
