Clunk Noise from Front Suspension
Service
Category
Suspension

Section
Front Suspension Market USA

Applicability
YEAR(S) MODEL(S) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
2008 – 2011 xD
Introduction
Some 2008 – 2011 model year xD vehicles may exhibit a noise from the front area that is heard under acceleration/deceleration, when braking, or when driving over an uneven road surface. New front lower suspension arms, cross member, and No. 2 front lower suspension arm bolts are now
available to address this condition.

Might have take the xD in for this soon. Can't tell if it is the front suspension that is making the noise or if it is the brakes.

I called my local dealer and they said that no recall has been claimed and that I should receive a letter if there is one. Did any of you guys take yours in? I'm getting this noise when I decelerate and brake.

My front end rattles all the time. Its my sway bar links. That what I get for using ones from a GM minivan. I need to put my stock ones back on.

technical* service bulletin. also, these issues are generally not life endangering and won't be considered important enough to be deemed a recall until there's definite proof that they risk the driver's life. These TSBs are also to be fixed at the owners expense, as opposed to a recall.

THANKS for the info Chris.

no clunking noise for me, but when i exit/enter diagonally over a driveway super slow ie 2 mph, there is a creaking sound. BUT it sounds like it's coming from the rear, not the front. i'll observe again next time.

so now that's 2 issues i know about with our cars, the first being the famous "whistling side mirror" at 55 mph.

Heard the noises exactly like in the TSB, looked on my garage floor, found the #2 sub frame bolt had rusted through and was lying on the floor. #2 bolt also holds the right side control arm in place. Waiting for all six sub frame bolts to come in to replace them all.

Shouldn't that be covered under the warranty? I mean I dont have any problems with my 08, but if I do I will follow up on this.

if you're still under your bumper to bumper warranty, I'm pretty sure you can sway them to fix it.....But I've also had a TSB on my car while under warranty and chevy tiptoed around it and made up excuses as to why they shouldn't fix it etc. Give it a shot.

i dont think im having this problem but i did install the megan racing lower support bars and idk if i tightened the bolts to tight or sumtn but im gettin sum very faint creeking coming from the lower front bar, i think its cus the chassis is trying to flex but the bar is preventing that but im not sure, any other possiblities?
