Default shifting to 4th
hello everyone
i own a 08 xd automatic for about a year now with just over 30k miles. this fall when it began to get cold i noticed that on a cold start on the highway it hesitate shifting into 4th gear and would hold 3rd for a long time. like 5k and 65mph. i brought it to the dealer and had no luck. "could not duplicate" was the answer I got. its still under full warente and will be for some time. Has anyone else been having this problem? does anyone know if this trany and or engine has been used in any other cars?

Mine does the same thing, it is a warm up feature. I have been turning 5K on the interstate before waiting for the car to warm up.

A lot of modern cars do this... it is to help warm up the catalytic converter faster for lower emissions.

You might want to double check your trans fluid, too... but usually you would notice it hesitating to go into drive if it were low.

it's a feature on auto cars that keeps the car in third until the thermostat opens up. when the engine gets warm, it'll shift into 4th.

it's in your manual, read up!!!

blue was on the first set of scions until 2008. at that time, they replaced the blue "cold engine" light with a green one.
