Went for a Oil Change...

So I went for a Oil Change on my 2010 xD the other day @ jiffy lube. after like 10 Minutes they came up to me and said whoever did my oil change last over tightened the Oil Filter Housing? and that they cant get it off without breaking it. Im not very auto Savvy.. would my best choice be to take it to the dealer and pay them to fix it... prolly lots of $$$$ or would this be something i could do on my own? I called the last place I took it and they of course denied responsibility (go figure) Any advice appreciated..
